Open and close the register

The daily routine at the pay station: opening cash, selling with express pay, shift changes and the register close report that matches the drawer.

By Onboarding Desk · Updated

Short answer: open the register with the cash in the drawer, sell, and close it at shift end; the close report lists totals by payment method so the drawer count is quick.

Opening

  1. Open the POS on the register device.
  2. Enter the opening cash in the drawer.
  3. Do a test sale and void it if this is the first day.

Selling fast

  • Tap the wash, tap the add-on, tap express cash or express card.
  • For members, search the plate or let the LPR read do it.
  • For split payments, open the full payment screen.

Closing

  1. Count the drawer.
  2. Open Close register; compare counted cash with expected cash.
  3. Note any difference and close. Print or save the report.

Questions about this step

What if the drawer doesn't match?

The close report shows expected cash by payment type; record the counted amount and a note. Repeated differences point to a training or refund issue.

Can two shifts use the same register?

Yes. Close the register at shift end and open it again for the next person with their opening cash.

Where do JazzCash or Easypaisa payments show?

As their own payment method in the close report, separate from cash and card.
